After Good Gains in 2015, Daimler Sets Vision for Further Growth Globally in Coming Years

Daimler Buses made strong gains in 2015, amid a rising market resurgence in the commercial vehicle space worldwide. Despite growing threats in certain sections of the world market, such as South America, the company had fared well overall. Its global income rose by 9 percent.
The firm had secured strong market gains particularly in the European Union. With a market share of 31 percent, the company anchored itself as the segment leader in Western Europe. Almost 700 intercity buses from the brand are put to use for daily transport in Germany, where passenger volumes touch a staggering 20 million commuters.
The firm is now pursuing growth in potential markets around the world. The brand views the condition in India as a greatly potent scene at present. Currently the second largest bus market in the world, the country faces a stretched transport system and rising demand for passenger buses. Daimler plans to utilise the booming business environment in India for its market gains. It had invested a total of 50 million Euros for a state-of-the-art plant in the Chennai, India. This plant serves as a cornerstone for the brand's activities in the country and its surrounding region. BharatBenz buses are built here, targeting the Indian market, along with premium segment Mercedes-Benz buses.
“With respect to the growth in new markets, our goal is clear: We want to develop custom-made solutions for each market and create synergies in our global production and sales network in the process”, said Hartmut Schick, head of Daimler Buses. “We have taken important decisions in recent years, which will be fully realized in 2016. A good example for this is the start of our new production location in India. Here, we have been producing for the local market since mid-2015, and are simultaneously tapping into important growth markets in Asia, Africa and Latin America.”
The brand intends to further augment its services with technology and connectivity. In February 2016, the company had launched a new department, “Mobility Solutions”. The new division will work to develop concept models that come with new techno aids, including telematics and mobility solutions. The company has stayed ahead of the race all this while with its advanced FleetBoard system, which has benefited customers over one and a half decades through intelligent data and enhanced efficiency.
