Bilaspur Gets 10 New AC Buses from Tata Motors

India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, Tata Motors, delivered 10 new fully integrated air-conditioned midi buses, to the city of Bilaspur last week. The occasion was flagged off by Hon’ Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri. Raman Singh. Apart from this order, Tata Motors will be delivering 42 new midi buses to Raipur, Korba and Durg-Bhilai in the near future.
The order was placed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) scheme. And for the very first time, private operators registered under Bilaspur Urban Public Transport Society (BUPTS) will regulate the daily functioning of these air-conditioned midi buses plying in the city. Under this JNNURM scheme, Tata Motors has bagged impressive orders from five cities in Chattisgarh, totaling up to 178 buses.
The new BS-III 9-meters bus has been built at the Tata Marcopolo Motors Ltd. (TMML) facility in Dharwad and is equipped with ITS (Intelligent Transport System). The ITS hosts an inbuilt OBITS (On Board Intelligent Transport System) framework, as per the UBS II norms, thus meeting global safety standards. Increasing the safety notches higher, Tata has incorporated the latest fire detection and fire suppression systems in these buses.
The midi buses from Tata Motors also boast of several other advanced technologies such as Passenger Information System (LED destination boards), automatic vehicle location system, security camera network system (CCTV), on-board vehicle health monitoring and diagnostics, and single controller unit that guarantee better commuter safety, better passenger comfort and connectivity.
The vehicle also comes with a floor height of 900 mm, that permits swifter movement of these buses through traffic and by-lanes and are a perfect solution for feeder services.
