MAN Bags Prestigious Award at German Design Festival, iF Design Award Night

Recently, MAN won over the spotlight at a prestigious event held in Munich, the iF Design Award Night. The award event aims to highlight and recognise achievements in the design industry. Out of more than 5000 entries, 75 were selected for the gold prize, one among which was the company's Intercity bus. Despite competing with a slew of models from various fields, including sports cars and bikes, the model managed to grab acclaim in the event and won in the “Automobiles/Vehicles/Bikes” category.

The basis for the model being awarded included its exterior appearance and design as a pivotal factor, with key aspects such as function and innovation also taken into consideration.

The award panel, consisting of 58 experts in the design field, expounded their decision by saying, “This intercity coach made by MAN demonstrates how standard design tasks can be solved in an inspirational way. It impressed the award panel with its timeless design, clear lines and perfectly balanced proportions. All of the details are flawlessly implemented, with the interior matching the exterior and vice versa, the windows and doors are attractively integrated and the colour scheme, the materiality and surface form are perfectly designed. All of these factors make the bus a modern vehicle that is absolutely convincing in its entirety.”

Executives from MAN also expressed delight at the occasion. “We are thrilled to have received this award, which is an internationally renowned seal of quality for good design,” said Stephan Schönherr, Vice President of Omnibus Design at MAN. “It is a great success that has so far generally been reserved for our luxury segment and premium products,” he added.

According to Mr Schönherr, the award was a testament to MAN's strong reception among public circles, and underlined their commitment towards high standards in design and production.
