Scania Delivers Emission-Free Buses to Community in Madrid

Scania recently delivered a batch of intercity urban buses to the municipality of Arganda del Rey in Madrid. The community is working to push its transport system towards cleaner energy and sustainable mobility.

The Swedish bus-maker Scania delivered five intercity buses and one urban bus, all driven by CNG (Compressed Natural Gas). The new vehicles are expected to make a significantly positive impact on the air quality with drastically lower emissions of CO2 and nitrogen oxide.

Juan Ignacio Merino Mesa, the Managing Director for the Regional Consortium of Transport of Madrid, expressed hope, saying that the new vehicles were “a step on the path of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility and Modernization of Fleet, which calls for 100% of the fleet to be made up of these type of vehicles: more comfortable, affordable and environmentally smart”.

The bus was showcased by Juan Morcillo Pares, CEO of the local bus station service Argabus. Mr. Pares explained the intricate elements of the bus, including its performance, innovativity and the various assists that the buses provide.

At the event, the mayor of Arganda, Guillermo Hita spoke to the gathered audiences. He expressed his gratitude to Regional Transport Consortium and Argabus for taking up projects that help to enhance the quality of life and environment for the city residents.
